If you’re up for a slick local play arena shooter for your Switch, Varion comes to the table with prominent visuals and easy controls. However the core game mechanic of ricochet-only kills will definitely turn off some players, as it feels more luck-based than skill.
While it is hard to recommend Varion over the rest of the Switch's fastly-improving local multiplayer catalog, you could certainly do much, much worse.
If the typical local multiplayer shooting fare has seemed to get a being tired and dull I’d tend to agree, the genre has been in a bit of a cookie cutter rut on the whole for a while.
