I really wanted this game to good and I tried everything I could to make it that way (from mods to save file editing), but it just isn't a good game. So much of the game is fundamentally broken both in terms of design and programming.
The bones of a good game are here, but that's as far as it goes. My god is it a mess.

Devs stopped updating it but its still a great game there is a mod for it on nexus hub that is basically a group of people keeping the project alive. So if you are thinking about getting this game I would recommend it but definitely get the mod dreadnought improvement project from nexus.
It taken so much of my life, but I keep coming back to it.
