I saw this on /r/VisualNovels and thought eh, it's 4 bucks, I'll give it a go. And then after a half hour I realized I could use that 4 bucks to buy 4 Arizona iced teas instead. It has a lot of typos, it doesn't even have a combat system even though it calls itself an RPG, the only thing 'checking your surroundings' does is unlock more dialogue options...

Overview
Interactive as an RPG, complex as a visual novel, The Tavern uses a new approach to role-playing. You play as mercenary named Nalia - a single mother who tries to earn enough coins to survive the winter. Your children need you to come back, but how are you going to act seeing the cruelty and rottenness of the outside world? No fillers, no grinding, only your decisions and the story. All this takes place in a grim, dangerous fantasy world where the main goal of entire civilizations is survival.

I really liked the little details, and how some choices were actually tough. Like the fact that you can walk out of the story at any point if you got the money and think your children need you more than some NPCs. Or like you can get really different endings based on how selfish you choose to be at different points. Makes you think about life choices...
"The Tavern" offers a decent price-to-quality ratio. I admit, it cuts it a little close, but it still fell on the positive side. It's a short game; one full run took me an hour to finish. I found the main character quite likeable, and I enjoy playing as mothers on a quest (Fallout 4, don't interact). There's quite a lot of descriptions for items laying...
I thoroughly enjoyed this game! Some of the choices were really tough to make, the atmosphere with the lighting and music was very mysterious and I loved interacting with the characters who were staying at the Tavern. Very enjoyable, especially if you'd prefer a more story-driven and less battle-based RPG.
Things this game features: -down to earth, sometimes blunt, dialogue -detailed item descriptions. You also get to see Nalia's thoughts as you inspect the enviroment, which is a plus. -good atmospheric soundtrack -sense of immediacy to the conversations/locations Those things made investigating in the game enjoyable.
