Reception

The Blood of the Dawnwalker is a familiar yet inviting dark high-fantasy world inlaid with gameplay systems that stand out among the action-RPG pack. While it does have its setbacks, the overall product was a solid first impression that left me itching for more.

The Blood of Dawnwalker puts a fresh spin on the open world RPG by making every decision matter against a 30 day countdown. With a dark fantasy world to explore, human and vampire abilities to master, and choices involving allies, equipment, and the fight against the vampires, Coen's journey challenges players to decide what truly matters when saving...

In spite of the discrepancies between what the developers appeared to want this game to be and what actually made it to store shelves, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a pretty good time. The vision is present throughout the game and the obvious shortcomings often feel far more like a material consideration than outright mistakes.

If you enjoy Kingdom Come: Deliverance and The Witcher, and appreciate an RPG that expects you to learn its systems with relatively little hand-holding, Dawnwalker is worth your time. It certainly earned mine.

Rebel Wolves doesn't need to prove that it can make an RPG. *The Blood of Dawnwalker* already proves it.
