SpaceEngine is a 3D astronomy program and game engine developed by Russian astronomer and programmer Vladimir Romanyuk. Using real astronomical catalogs and procedural generation, it creates a three dimensional planetarium representing the entire universe.
Users can travel through space in any direction or speed, and forwards or backwards in time.
It uses pseudo-random numbers to procedurally create any kind of planetary system, nebula or galaxy.
Space Engine isn't a game, it's a straight-up ego death simulator.
I was thinking I’d have a nice, relaxing little space walk. Instead, I ended up having an existential crisis. I scrolled backwards for three hours straight, watched the entire Milky Way shrink into a pixel, and looked at trillions of galaxies turning into tiny dots of light. Then it...
You can go anywhere in this game. ANYWHERE! Mount Everest? Saturn's moon Iapetus? That random star in the sky? A planet in an undiscovered galaxy 10 billion light years away? Do you want to land on a star orbiting right next to a black hole? Do you want to drift alone through the cold, vast, and uncaring abyss of interstellar space? Nothing is stopping...
I'm spacing it.
Yes, you read the title right. I am spacing it oh so good. Want to fly into a blackhole? Sure, I wont be, I am too scared... This game ran pretty smooth on the nichest pc ever. 11/12 game, beautiful.
What I love about the game is that you can literally explore what we can explore. Especially in our Milky Way!!! I'm learning so much. I did start off browsing else before the tutorial, so I recommend the tutorials especially if you don't know how to navigate through space. Take your time. You've got tons to explore once you've got it. Did you know...
My computer sucks.
And this game looks insane and works AMAZING. Low lag.
Only issues are that the UI and buttons kinda suck
