Socketeer is a roguelite where you can hack into enemies to gain their special abilities. I initially gave this game a negative review due to frustrating UI problems, but I decided to change the rating because the patches have fixed most of the issues - such as playing tutorial over and over. The last few updates made the pacing of the game a little...

Overview
SOCKETEER is a frantic randomly generated top-down shooter where you play as a small robot that cannot shoot. Instead, the main character must hack into any electronic device and utilize it to survive. Take control of defense robots and blast other enemies away, crack into security door control panels and slam them shut on unsuspecting guards, circumvent data consoles and download map information to help navigate to the exit.

Reception
Eh. Didn't hook me tbh. It's nice so far, but needs heavy work. here are some details I found interesting: - Nice flat design graphics and animations. Feels like playing a game in Adobe After Effects. - Interesting hacking mechanics, hacks have allays different patterns. - You can make badass stuff with the computer in the tutorial - You can blast open...
This is exactly my kind of game! Robots, roguelike, hacking, taking over other robots. What could go wrong? Well, in its current state, it's boring and feels unfinished. There's a lot of wasted potential here. While there is a bit more to it than the equally disappointing and similar Endhall, once you've played the game one time, you've seen everything...
I love this main hook - on your own you're super vulnerable, but you can hack any robot or terminal to take it over - as it changes the pacing completely from typical shooters. One minute frantic, the next full of (misplaced) confidence! Worked well for me, although I did end up nervously creeping round the levels. It's hard and unforgiving like Spelunky...
Super fun! Great artstyle!
Easy to pick up and get going but as soon as you think you've cracked it you'll let you guard down and get blasted out into space (which is awesome).
-- Good variety of play style choices
-- Nice weapon / robot variety
-- A lot of funny ways to die!
-- Good challenge
-- Destructible environments!
