Rogan: The Thief in the Castle is a visually striking new Oculus Rift and HTC Vive game on the way from Smilegate Entertainment.
As the name suggests, the game's set within the confines of a giant castle. You have the misfortune of visiting the castle on the day of its Lord's murder, putting guards on high alert. Instead of deciding to swipe loot for yourself, then, you set about trying to prove the innocence of one of the crime’s most likely suspects.
TESTED WITH HTC VIVE (Room-scale)
I really wanted to like this game but, eh...
I played this to the point where the developer would warn you in a loading screen to not take any pictures or stream the playthrough for the rest of the game.
The story is basically about Rogan the thief (player) and Victoria (the girl in the posters) trying to take the castle...
I'll be honest with you, I really really wanted to like this game. I've been looking for a VR game with fantastic graphics and love stealth gameplay so I thought this would be a perfect fit. However it is perhaps the most boring VR game I've played yet. I usually look pretty thoroughly into a game before buying, and as I'm relatively late to the VR...

ROGAN: The Thief In The Castle is one of those titles that we've had on our wishlist on steam for a long time,
is the game as quality as it seems? Is it...
I honestly don't know why so many people liked this game. The gameplay is boring. The story doesn't make sense. I almost fell asleep. You're supposed to walk slow and whack guards with a stick or sneak around. There's marked dark areas and you cover your eyes to get into "thief vision". So hide in dark corners, watch patrols, and walk slow. Rinse and...
PROS-
+ Graphics
+ Motion capture
+ Voice acting
+ Story
+ Quick patch releases
CONS-
- Repetitive gameplay
- Succession of short levels
- Can't run or escape if caught
- Can interaction with so few objects, for a VR game
There is efforts made into this game. But it's boring.
Still, decided not to ask for a refund to support the devs.
Hopefully they'll...
