Raw Data is a made-for-VR multiplayer first-person combat game. It features whole-body gameplay with an in-game avatars, interactive weapons, dynamic defenses, badass upgrades and swaths of challenging enemies.
As the newest initiate to Rikugun's elite ranks, your hacking skills are among the best. Standing between you and a geobyte of Eden Corp's valuable raw data: waves of single-minded battle androids permanently set to annihilate. Your talents will get you in and give you access to Eden Corp's entire catalog of cutting-edge weapons and defense systems.
Raw Data is a competent and well made VR FPS that suffers from a gameplay loop that drags on longer than it really should.
Raw Data is a great game to show off your PSVR with. This isn't an entry-level PSVR and I don't recommend jumping in and turning off all safety features for your first playthrough – however, once you are used to the controls and movement style which suits you, this game is so much fun and can be played in both short bursts and long stretches.
The recurring theme here is substance. On paper, creating a wave-based shooter doesn't sound all that inventive or ambitious, yet Raw Data is just that. In a bid to capitalise on the VR gold rush, we've seen plenty of smaller, lacklustre shooting galleries, but Survios effortlessly puts them all to shame.
Apart from some flaws, Raw Data neatly shows, how big potential is in PS Move controllers and virtual reality itself. It is just a greatly designed and satisfying shooter, which delivers tons of fun.
In spite of a lack of different enemies and occasionally unreliable motion controls, Raw Data nonetheless stands as one of the more intuitive and satisfying shooters available on PSVR.
