2K has managed to produce a very competent on-court basketball experience that is nevertheless very difficult to give a full-throated recommendation to because of the bloat that they continue to spread through the mode selections and the corrupting tentacles of Virtual Currency staining everything they touch.

NBA 2K27 keeps moving in the right direction without trying to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it focuses on polishing the core gameplay, from defensive physical contact to ProPLAY animations and player controls.
