Kirby Blowout Blast brings a new take to the Kirby series, with different mechanics and a tinge of puzzling involved which works very well throughout the game. It could certainly improve on its difficulty level, as it turns out to be too easy and its lifespan would benefit from being extended but the basis for a good take on Kirby is here.

Overview

Have a blast inhaling foes and blowing them away in 3D environments across 25+ stages. Inhale enough enemies and you can launch one huge Blaster Bullet capable of wiping out a troop of Waddle Dees. Now's your chance to battle iconic bosses like Kracko Jr. and King Dedede in 3D! Inhaling multiple enemies to launch Blaster Bullets is a great way to pump up your score and go for a bronze, silver, or gold star. Another way to score big is to rack up a combo by continuously firing at enemies without missing. Or you could always just collect coins as you jump across platforms. As you progress, you'll unlock EX stages, which provide a tougher challenge to master. Celebrate your victories by tapping a Kirby series amiibo figure to build a statue in the plaza that plays new music!

Kirby's Blowout Blast is a strange downloadable release in the popular series
Kirby's Blowout Blast is the very definition of short and sweet. It's a lunchtime diversion, that doesn't pack any surprises but does at least have a somewhat addictive speed-running nature if you're not easily distracted.
In a time of games that stretch into the tens of hours, it's nice to have a game full of short gameplay bursts designed to be replayed over and over, Blowout Blast is a wonderful little distraction.
Kirby's Blowout Blast is a fun, short distraction that acts as a pseudo-retelling of Kirby's Dreamland. The levels are short, there aren't a large variety of bosses, and there is a notable lack of surprises, but replaying levels to earn a platinum level, or even just ace your score, is what makes this game almost worth the $6.99 purchase.
