Even as an Early Access game, Jupiter Hell Classic is worth buying for the DRL (Doom Rogue Like) mode alone. In addition, Epyon continues to ardently revisit and rethink Jupiter Hell, making it feel and look like an even more traditional roguelike. The man has all my respect for his deeds: he still updates Jupiter Hell, even though it has been years...
I love this game. It hits the right parts of my brain. I had never played a rougelike before and stumbled on this one where they say you play aggressive and fast like doom but strategic and it nails that feeling. Just had my first big run and the hours just slipped by. Excellent game.
This has quickly become one of my all-time faves.
It's casual enough to be relaxing, while still requiring focus for risk/reward evaluation, inventory management, and other strategic considerations. The music is solid, too.
