Overview

Anthill – Official Nintendo Switch Trailer – Out Now!

Anthill is a gorgeous strategy game with an award-winning interface based on the real-world behavior of ants. By drawing pheromone trails, you direct your ground forces to different destinations, working with streams of units rather than individuals. Similar to a tower defense game, your mission is to protect the hill as wave upon wave of enemy bugs are thrown at you.

Reception

It's not exactly the top of its field, but Anthill is an engaging experience for short bursts. The simple nature of the game and the streamlined strategic elements make this a great pick-up-and-play title for strategy and tower defense fans, and there's a good deal of content to keep you busy for some time. You'll wish it supported docked play, and...

Strategically, the game certainly feels like a unique addition to the tower defense genre. However, the game isn't strategically priced. Anthill lacks some of the basic components you'd expect from a game on the Nintendo Switch, such as the ability to play multiplayer and play in both docked and handheld mode. From such a simple concept comes an addictive and challenging game, one which will entertain you for many hours as you try and work out the most efficient and cost-effective way to proceed. I personally felt like the later levels spiked...

Anthill may be several years old at this point, but it's still a fun little game that showcases Image & Form's talents before the Steamworld series gathered, er... steam. There's a decent amount of depth here as you explore various strategies to defend your anthill, and there's good replay value with the delightful Infinity mode. It falls down a bit...

As a real-time strategy game, Anthill provides a simplistic and enjoyable formula that can be quite a hoot in short bursts.
